Possibly a setting to backup x number of concurrent databases at once. Right now I only backup one database, (it is a large database and takes about 15 minutes to dump and zip etc.) so I can see this option can help speed up the application.

Sorry, I am not clear on this. You can select just the databases you want to backup.

Yes... But the application only processes 1 database at a time. I was asking for the ability to do more than 1 database at once (ie backup 2 databases at once to speed up the backup process).

This is interesting, but I worry about performance impact of running multiple mysqldump processes. Also this seems like an option that would be used very rarely.

I think this would be great on large installations (where its a dedicated MySQL server) and you have a many databases. This would allow it to complete faster.

Is this still being considered? I would think this would be very useful!
