When I use "send test email" gmail works just fine. However when I run a job i get
ERROR: Sending a confirmation e-mail failed: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required. Learn more at"
I am using smtp.gmail.com w/ ssl and port 587
Any ideas ?

Hi,
We've checked this from our side and everything went fine. Could you send us your jobx file that causes the problem?
BR, Mike

Regards,
I have installed version 5.2 and upgrade to version 5.5. Following updating, after performing the task successfully, the following error throws me by sending e-mail:
"Sending a confirmation e-mail failed: SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client did not authenticate. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required. Learn more at"

Your question is different from the one discussed in this topic. It seems you are using your own SMTP server and do not properly set all of the settings. Most common error is when your server requires you to use full email address as username and you put just username without domain name. Or it requires a custom port. Or SSL. It all depends on your server, there's nothing specific to SQLBackupAndFTP here. If you have trouble with your own server, just use a GMail address.

I do not understand. The email account is gmail.com. before the upgrade worked without problems. I have not made other changes to the server or firewall. Additionally I have another server without updating and running smoothly. Any suggestions?

I've just checked it with gmail - all runs fine. Nothing was changed in this respect with the latest update. Try another computer or another gmail account. Nobody has ever complained about this - most probably there's something specific to your configuration.

Nothing was changed in this respect with the latest update. Try out another computer or another gmail account. Or try select "Custom" option and specify SMTP server connection params directly.
