The backup log lists-> 8/16/2012 7:30:13 AM ERROR: The archive list is empty!
What does this mean? I can find nothing on-line about this error message. The backup was actually completed.
Is there a document with all error and warning messages and their descriptions?
Thanks,
Darrell

Dear Darrell,
We haven't a special document with errors and warning descriptions.
Can you please provide bit more details on error you got: 1) repro steps 2) job log

Hi guys,
I am now getting the same issue (have been since latest update). Here is the failure log that is emailed to me:
9/15/2012 5:00:39 AM Compressing (internal zip) D:\Websites\MySites\Portals to C:\Windows\TEMP\Portals(2)201209150500.zip 9/15/2012 5:01:28 AM ERROR: The archive list is empty!
I have 3x folders all called Portals that I need to backup. The application is adding the brackets to the filename for second and third. I have checked the file in my Windows Temp folder and it is a 300Mb zip, which opens fine via Windows Explorer. The application then does not even attempt the 3rd item.
Any ideas? Would it be the brackets in the filename?

Hi,
Please try to compress with 7-zip software. You can find this option at "Advanced Settings" window.

hello,
just saw this thread and just did register here, because i am facing the same issue.
if i select 'backup all non-system DBs', the databases 'ReportServer$SQL' and 'ReportServer$SQL' will be backed up, too. but this two databases are producing the same error message with and without 7zip-compression:
17.09.2012 22:00:08 Creating backup of ReportServer$SQL to C:\Windows\TEMP (full) 17.09.2012 22:00:08 Compressing (7-zip zip) ReportServer$SQL201209172200.bak to E:\MSSQLbkp\ReportServer$SQL201209172200.zip 17.09.2012 22:00:09 Removing ReportServer$SQL201209172200.bak from C:\Windows\TEMP 17.09.2012 22:00:09 ERROR: The archive list is empty!
>>> tested on different windows server 2008 r2 nodes. allways the same error. problem with special chars like '$' in DB name? <<<<
thank you for any hints, tips & tricks :-) regards, andi

Thanks for the suggestion for 7-zip. Installed but exact same result! Any other ideas?
Again it failed on the second out of three: the one with the amended brackets in the name. It then does not proceed to the 3rd item. Here is the new log:
17/09/2012 23:19:40 Compressing (7-zip zip) D:\Websites\MyWebsites\Portals to C:\Windows\TEMP\Portals(2)201209172319.zip 17/09/2012 23:19:53 ERROR: The archive list is empty!

Hi,
Thank you for the reporting about the issue. We've just updated our release. Please update SQLBackupAndFTP to 8.0.6 and try to run the job again.

I did the upgrade and hit another problem. Below is the log. After I upgraded it appeared I was back to using the FREE version. I tried to re-apply my license and I got the error:
'Your license is not valid for version 8'
My log:
9/19/2012 4:41:01 AM ERROR: In SQLBackupAndFTP Free you are limited to 2 scheduled database backups a day 9/19/2012 4:41:01 AM ERROR: Job finished (With Errors) 9/19/2012 4:41:34 AM ERROR: Sending a confirmation e-mail failed: Server was unable to process request. ---> Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
Is the license restricted to version number? I would appreciate a fast answer as my last nights backup failed.
Thanks, Daniel.

2 hillendan If you have a license key for 7.X releases, you cannot use it for 8.X. There is ability to upgrade a license at: http://sqlbackupandftp.com/upgrade/
Anyway this issue is fixed in release 7.2.18. If you have a license for 7.X release, please use "Resend my license keys" link at http://sqlbackupandftp.com/support/ page to get this release. --- 2 CHandi Thank you for the reporting. It was an other case and we fixed it in 8.0.7. Could you please update SQLBackupAndFTP software and try it?
