Email

SqlBackupAndFTP can send notifications by Email. Configure this in the Email notifications block and in the Mail Server Settings window.

In the Email notifications block, you can specify one or more email addresses. If you need multiple recipients, separate the addresses with commas.

On Success

Enter the addresses that should receive an email after the job completes successfully.

On Failed

Enter the addresses that should receive an email if the job ends with an error.

Advanced settings are available in the Mail Server Settings window.

  • Send a test message using Send test email.

In GMail mode, email is sent on behalf of your gmail account. To use this mode, you need to complete authorization and grant the required permissions.

What you need to do:

  • Select GMail.
  • Authorize your gmail account.
  • Confirm the permissions required for sending email.

Custom

In Custom mode, you configure the SMTP server manually.

What you need to fill in:

  • From email – the sender address
  • SMTP mail server – the SMTP server address
  • Port – the SMTP port
  • My server requires authentication – enable this if the server requires a username and password
  • Enable SSL – enable this if the server requires SSL/TLS
  • User Name / Email – the SMTP login
  • Password – the password or app password

These values should be provided by your email provider or system administrator.

Disable Sending for diff / tlog

In the advanced settings, you can disable email notifications for specific backup types, such as diff and tlog.

This is useful when these backups run frequently and you do not want to receive too many repetitive emails, while still keeping notifications for more important runs.
