Common questions about licenses, subscriptions, backups and support.
A one-time purchase. You pay once per computer, and the license never expires. The Full-Service subscription is optional and yearly: $28 for Lite, $48 for Standard, $68 for Professional, and included for life in Professional Lifetime.
SQLBackupAndFTP keeps working with all features of your edition, and scheduled backups continue. You stop receiving updates, direct support, Web Log history, notifications through our mail servers and service-down alerts. A license bought without the subscription includes one month of Full-Service, and you can renew at any time in your account.
On the old computer, open Help → License Key and click Remove license from this computer, then enter the same key on the new one. If the old computer is gone, or you see “The license key is already in use by the maximum allowed computers”, remove it in My Account → Licenses (Used by column) and activate the key again.
The quickest way: in the History & restore panel of the job, click the three dots (⋮) next to a backup and choose Restore from Backup…. You can also create a Restore Job (Job → Add Restore Job), choose where the backups are stored, select the databases and the target server, and click Restore. If you pick a differential or transaction log backup, SQLBackupAndFTP restores the full backup and the whole chain in the right order; you can restore under a different name or to another server, and the Free edition can restore too.
Microsoft SQL Server (including Express), Azure SQL, Amazon RDS for SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases, as well as files and folders on the same computer. Backups are compressed, can be encrypted and are sent to local or network folders, NAS, FTP/SFTP or cloud storage.
Scheduled full backups of up to 2 databases and of files and folders, to local and network folders, NAS, FTP/SFTP/FTPS, OneDrive Personal, Box, Backblaze B2 and Yandex.Disk, with email notifications through Gmail or your own mail server. A new installation starts as a 14-day Professional trial and switches to Free automatically when the trial ends. Google Drive and Dropbox start with Lite; differential, transaction log and incremental backups with Standard.
Usually the address was unsubscribed (someone clicked Unsubscribe in a notification) or blocked after a delivery failure. Contact us with the address, and we will re-enable it. If you send through your own mail server, check Mail Server Settings with Send test email.
Credit and debit cards and PayPal. Bank wire transfer is also available with an additional $40 bank fee. For purchase orders, contact our sales team, and we will send a quote or proforma invoice.
Yes. Every purchase comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Contact us with the invoice number, and the refund will appear on your statement within 5–10 business days.
Enter them in the Company field on the Profile page of your account. The details update on all your invoices, including earlier ones.
Click Delete my account on the My Account page. Deleting an account also permanently deletes all licenses in it, so if you still need a license, ask us to transfer it to another account first.
On the Features & Prices page, click Find your edition and answer a few quick questions — we will recommend the best edition for you. In short, Lite covers up to 5 databases and adds Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack and Teams notifications. Standard removes the database limit and adds differential, transaction log and incremental backups. Professional adds Amazon S3 and S3-compatible storage, Azure Storage, OneDrive for Business and AES encryption. You can upgrade later and pay only the difference.
Most often the access token has expired or was revoked after a password or security change. Open the destination settings, sign in again and save the job; also update to the latest version, because older versions use retired cloud APIs. If the error repeats, enable Tools → Advanced Log and send the log to us.
Windows with .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later; builds for .NET 4.6 and 4.0 are available on the Download page for older systems. SQLBackupAndFTP runs only on Windows; to back up databases on Linux servers, use SqlBak.
In Mail Server Settings, choose GMail and authorize your Google account, or choose Custom and enter your SMTP server, port, SSL setting and login (many providers require an app password). Automatic mode sends through our servers and needs an active Full-Service subscription. Errors such as “Unable to relay” mean the SMTP server rejected the login or relay settings.
Customers with an active Full-Service subscription receive direct email support. We normally answer within one business day.
